Sam the Koala and the Mystery of the Tummy Troubles

Once upon a time, in the magical land of Limited Edition Land, there lived a koala named Sam. Sam was a friendly and curious koala who loved to climb trees and munch on eucalyptus leaves. She was also very careful about what she ate because she had celiac disease.

Celiac disease meant that Sam couldn’t eat foods with gluten, like bread, pasta, and cookies, because they made her tummy hurt. Instead, she had to eat gluten-free foods, which were safe for her tummy.

One day, Sam’s class at school was learning about different types of food allergies and intolerances. When it was Sam’s turn to share, she stood up in front of the class and said, “I have celiac disease. It’s not an allergy, but it makes me sick if I eat gluten.”

The class was curious and asked Sam lots of questions. Sam explained that when she ate gluten, it caused damage to her small intestine and made her feel really unwell. She told them that the only way to feel better was to avoid gluten completely.

Sam’s classmates were understanding and supportive. They listened attentively as Sam explained how she had to be careful about what she ate and how she always read food labels to make sure they were gluten-free.

After Sam’s explanation, her classmates were more aware of celiac disease and how it affected people like Sam. They even decided to have a gluten-free day at school to show their support for Sam and others with celiac disease.

From then on, Sam felt more confident talking about her celiac disease. She was grateful for her understanding friends and happy to share her story to help others understand too.

And so, Sam the koala taught her class an important lesson about celiac disease, friendship, and understanding. She showed them that even though they may be different, they can still be great friends who support each other no matter what.
